Duke of Edinburgh Progress Report: Lists and Timescales

It’s been about 4 weeks since I last posted an update on this, so there’s a few items I need to get through. For starters, I was finally able to go into a Warhammer Store, and was able to speak to the Store Manager, who’s my assessor for this project. We discussed what I wanted to do for my 6 months, and what I wanted the final project to look like. He encouraged me to go away and draw up some plans, as well as a list of everything I’d need to complete the project. I quickly worked out what my plan was going to be, and I ended up with this incredibly detailed and technical drawing:

Ok, so it’s not the best, but it does set out what I’m planning. It’s set on Molech, the otherwise backwater world that just happens to be the source of the Emperor’s godlike powers, and later Horus’. I’m using a single Realm of Battle tile as a base, as they’re exactly the right size for an Armies on Parade board, along with two Imperial Bastions and an Ageis Defence Line to represent a bombed-out Imperial checkpoint on the Preceptor Line, now occupied by a Sons of Horus advance force. Everything in the force has either a transport or can deep strike, bar the two Contemptors, and I want it to come across as a vicious force acting as the tip of the spear during the Traitor assault.
My next job was to create a realistic timescale of what needs building/painting/ basing and when. This was harder than it looked at first, as it turns out I have a lot to do, and even with 6 months not a massive amount of time to do it in. My current timescale is based around the idea that I can paint 10 men in 3 weeks, and that I have about 24/28 weeks to do this in. Anyways, the plan is as follows:
- 10 man Veteran Squad (3 weeks)
- Rhino (1 week)
- Terminator and Reaver Squads (3 weeks)
- Contemptor (2 weeks)
- 10 man Veteran Squad (3 weeks)
- Rhino (1 week)
- Maloghurst and Warmonger (2 weeks)
- Contemptor (2 weeks)
- Realm of Battle tile (2 weeks)
- Imperial Bastion (1 week)
- Aegis Defence Line (1 week)
I’ve removed the Land Speeders and an Imperial Bastion from this list that I was originally planning to get, as I don’t feel that they add a massive amount to the display, and taking them out eases the pressure a little bit. My only other real concerns with this is if anything goes out of stock, or if Maloghurst isn’t up for preorder in time, in which case I’ll have to jiggle some things around to make it work. Other than that I think everything’s good, so until next time,
The Paint Crusader
