Weigh In: Sisters of Battle Dogmata

The Sisters get another new model, and this time it’s a chaplain/executioner woman?

It might just be the paintjob, but something immediately looks off on this model. Whether it’s down to the seemingly clawed left hand (perhaps she’s a genestealer in disguise?) or the strange looking face, it doesn’t look like one of the best sculpts GW has released for a while. Otherwise, it looks like a fairly typical SoB model, wearing power armour and a long draped robe. She appears to be carrying something akin to a crozius, with an Inquisition-shaped head to clobber people with. The candles on her powerpack are a nice touch too.

Mercifully, someone had the presence of mind to include a helmet, a nice touch with any model, but especially welcomed with a strange face sculpt. It’s not anything exciting however, and personally I think it’s a bit plain for a character. There also appears to be an option to swap out the candles for the fleur-de-lis, depending on your preference.

In the preview, it was mentioned that she will act as a chaplain-type figure for the Sisters, chanting war hymns and keeping the faith of the Sisters high. She also has the power to condemn those who have lost their faith to join the Repentia or Mortifactors, which is a pretty cool lore titbit. It does raise a few more questions about posing, as if she’s a chanter, what’s she doing in such a stoic and silent pose? I’ve seen enough Space Marine chaplains to know that the ideal pose has them perched on a rock, dramatically waving their skull-beatstick over their heads whilst shouting in an imposing manner.

Because of this, I really don’t think this mini cuts it for me. Sure, the lore sounds fairly interesting, but it is let down by an odd choice of pose and a strange looking head. I’d give it a 4/10 at best. Until next time,
